Rendering Tip - Speckled Lines at edges of walls.

This month in the Render Plus Forum an IRender Nxt user posted a question about a common problem—in his rendering he was getting white speckled lines around the edges of walls and the ceiling.

After examining his model, we discovered he had walls made of a single face, rather than thick walls, with dimension. Single face walls can work but they often leak light through the corners where two walls meet.

If you have light leaking through, then stretch out the walls to make them thick, or add additional faces behind them.

If the geometry is rectangular and perpendicular, there is usually not a problem. But if any of it is at an angle, then light can slip through.

Here is another rendering of the model after adding faces behind the walls and above the ceiling.

New Lights Query & Edit Wizard

Rich has added a new Query and Edit Lights in Model Wizard to IRender nXt. Try it out and let us know what you think...

The Lights Query & Edit Wizard makes it easy to find, examine, and edit the artificial lights you have placed in your SketchUp Model for rendering with IRender nXt
This new dialog, available from the Query and Edit Lights in Model button on the Lights Tab of the IRender nXt Options Wizard, is a work in progress. We'll be adding new capabilities to it and making it easier to use to locate and edit lights in the model. Let us know if there is something else that we could do here to make light editing easier for you.

BiMUp 5d - BIM and Reporting for SketchUp.

We at Render Plus are proud to have been chosen as the developer for the new BiMUp 5D for SketchUp product.

What is BiMUp 5D?

BiMUp Ltd’s first product is called BiMUp 5D which directly relates to the day-to-day use of BiM. It is simple, but quite remarkable, software that enables quantities to be taken off any SketchUp model.

It is the crucial ‘missing part of the jigsaw’ that enables BiM using SketchUp to become a reality.

It means that cost-modelling can be auto-generated from the earliest design models and that each time there is a change, the spreadsheets are also updated automatically.
